Deutsche Bahn’s Data Visualizer Tool is a desktop application made with Frontend Technologies to help analysts track bottlenecks in train journeys among other things. It was built on top of the popular Keplder.gl application which uses WebGl technology to render 3D Data Layers over maps.
Why Desktop and not Web?
The tool was designed to support millions of data points and attributes rendered over a map. Being a desktop application it handles multiple workspaces and connection with local databases to handle huge files. It doesn’t rely on cloud services which makes it a good fit for working offline with big files.
